Welcome! I am the ELL teacher for level 3 ESL Content Language, level 3 ESL Reading and Writing and level 4 ELL Language Arts here at Highland Park Junior High School. This is my fifth year here at Highland, but it is my 10th year of teaching ESL and my 22nd year of teaching. I am interested in helping ESL students to become successful in highschool, college or vocational school, and in their future careers !
Homework is an essential part of learning, so I require a typed 2 page
comprehensive book report every 4 weeks . I also insist that homework is handed
in at the correct time. If not, the student will stay after school, with me, to finish the homework ! Spelling tests are also a vital part of learning in order to prepare for the Writing Test in grade 9. If the student does not pass the Writing Test by grade 12 in high school, that student will not be issued a high school diploma. In my classes, we do a great deal of writing of poems, paragraphs, essays and stories along with comprehensive reading of classic novels and short stories.
